An Amethyst Glow Lamp in the Evening Room

A glow lamp is a cluster with a job after five.

In daylight it is stone. After dark it is the smallest light in the room. That is the point. It should not win against the floor lamp.

A cluster that also makes light. Side table after dark, not the ceiling, not the dining table. Not a salt lamp. Not a reading lamp.

Where it works

A side table you pass, not the table you work at.

A bedroom corner if the glow stays low and the cord is not a trip.

October mantel only if the fireplace is off and the cord can hide.

Where it does not

The dining table. Faces and food do not need purple fill.

A desk you still use at night. See the Flow post.

A guest nightstand unless they asked. See yesterday’s post.

Not a salt lamp

Salt sheds and pulls water. Amethyst does not. Do not treat the two as the same object on a humid sill.

Care

Unplug to dust. Do not wash the fixture. Stone wipe only—care post.

If the room already has three lamps on, this one is clutter that happens to glow.
